Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation: A random selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the 3 reviewed, there was no indicaton that the references were verified for all 3 files.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure character references are verified.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19250 - CCLR s.58(2)(a) - The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: A random selection of children's files were reviewed. Out of the 6 reviewed, 1 file contained information that a child had an allergy. A care plan was not developed in consultation with the parent or any person requested by the parent. The Manager stated this child does not have an allergy and it was an error during registration.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the child's file is updated with revelant information regarding allergies.

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated February 25, 2022 there were 22 children in care with 4 staff, 1 support worker and the Manager.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Action required by the licensee includes providing a written response by March 4, 2022 .
Actions required by Licensing include reviewing the written response.

The following education was provided:
Covid-19 vaccine status for staff

This report was written off site and a copy of both the report and Risk Assessment was emailed to the facility. This report is unsigned due to health and safety practices during COVID-19.
