Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #EGAU-BRWQ8Z have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
MEDICATION: 16010 - CCLR s.53(1)(a) - If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation: Licensing observed expired medication.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure medication is not expired.

Comments

At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. Licensing provided a date for correcting the contravention and is requesting a written response by June 15, 2020 advising on compliance.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The following was discussed:

ยท Different ways to capture yearly review of care plans.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the manager and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
