304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: Lots of mouse droppings were noted on the floor in hard to reach areas - below the dry storage shelves (beside walk-in cooler), by the shelves in the chest freezer area, in the server area around the ice machine, dry storage areas (front sectioned off area and by washrooms) and in the women's washroom.
Corrective Action(s): As per operator, they believe they do not have a pest issues as no mouse droppings were noted on top of food storage containers. However, some of the droppings noted in the hard to reach areas appeared fresh.
Move out all the shelving and cooler units and do a deep sweep, clean and sanitize all hard to reach areas. This will allow the operator to determine if the pest issue has improved.

Observation: Hole noted on the wall in the women's washroom where rodents may enter or hide in between the wall.
Corrective Action(s): Seal off hole to prevent rodent entry or harbourage of rodents.

Observation: Buildup/ food soil noted on the shelves and floor in the walk-in cooler and on the shelves in the front reach-in cooler.
Corrective Action(s): Clean and sanitize the abovementioned areas and maintain as per your Sanitation schedule after the deep clean.

Routine inspection conducted today:
Handwash stations accessible, equipped with hot and cold running water, liquid soap and paper towel.
All refrigeration units were at 4.0C or below.
All freezer units were at -18.0C or below.
Food stored protected and in the proper storage hierarchy.
Rice was held at over 60.0C in the rice cooker.
Sanitizer spray bottle was noted with 200 PPM chlorine residual.
High temperature dish machine was able to reach 86.6C at the plate level during the rinse cycle.
Dry goods were stored in pest proof containers.
Proper dispensers noted in-used and stored within bulk food containers.
Operator still has a valid FOODSAFE level 1 certificate.

Discussed with the operator in regards to using this facility to prepare food for a temporary event happening within the Vancouver Coastal Health area. No concern with operator's plan for using the facility for the temporary event.
