Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection Licensing observed:
-In the play room one baseboard heater cover was loose and came off easily. This cover was fully secured during inspection.
-Fridge temperature measured 8 degree Celsius. The temperature of the fridge was corrected during inspection. To ensure safe storage of food please ensure that the fridge temperature is between 0-4 Celsius.

Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Comments

At the inspection dated April 21, 2023 there were four children and the Manager present. Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility. There were no contraventions identified during this inspection.
The following was discussed with the Manager:
System for ensuring emergency supplies are not expired

The inspection report was written on-site and details were reviewed with the Manager prior to writing the report. A copy of the follow up to routine inspection report and risk assessment is provided to the manager at this inspection.
