Observation: Knife appears to have some debris on there.
Corrective Action(s): Clean and sanitize all food equipment as demonstrated including knives, cutting board and mugs.

Observation: No bleach available onsite, lysol used for counters.
Corrective Action(s): Obtain non scented bleach for sanitizing. 100ppm is required for food contact surfaces. 1 teaspoon bleach to 1 litre water.

401 - Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One handtowel hung on shelving unit used for drying by two compartment sinks. No paper towel in handsink where tea is dispensed and no paper towel in washroom.
Corrective Action(s): Soap, paper towel, hot & cold running water must be available at all times. Remove hand towel as this is not acceptable for drying hands. Paper towels placed at time of inspection.

Observation: Fruit flies noted around two compartment sinks. Heavy mould/mildew noted below dishrack used to dry hookah equipment.
Corrective Action(s): Increase sanitation, refer to comment on code 306.

306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation: Lots of buildup, dust and mildew noted around two compartment sinks. Clean washroom, tea dispensing area and kitchen fridge (spills on the bottom shelf). Heavy mildew noted under dishrack for hookah equipment.
Corrective Action(s): Remove mildew under dishrack as it is a source for fruit flies. Deep clean all noted areas, maintain sanitation. Staff started cleaning noted area during time of inspection.

311 - Premises not maintained as per approved plans [s. 6(1)(b)]
Observation: Dishwasher was informed to be broken a month ago and was since removed from premises without health approval. Only an empty dishrack on the floor noted. Floor tiles under two compartment sinks appear to have lifted. Drain plugs missing at two compartment sinks.
Corrective Action(s): Commercial dishwasher must be reinstsalled in one month. Please contact health unit to verify unit is approved. Replace loose floor tiles so that all surfaces are easily cleanable. Obtain drain plugs. Do not make structural changes to premises until health approval is granted in the future.
