Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Bathroom area in the Group Child Care program was reviewed during the inspection and the counter and sink caulking is in need of repairs due to damaged caulking. The bathroom stools to required attention and cleaning. LO reviewed these items with the manager.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure furniture, equipment and fixtures are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Comments

On the inspection date of February 7, 2022 there were 32 children and 11 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee include a corrective action plan required to be submitted and actions required the LO include to review and monitor corrective action plan. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This inspection report was completed off site and emailed to the facility at a later date due to a computer complication.
