Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous InspectionContraventions observed on FIR #AFUN-B2UT49 have been corrected.
Current InspectionItems reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Cleaning products were observed stored in a cupboard under the sink in the washroom potentially accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Licensee places a child safety lock on the cupboard immediately.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: A staff does not have immunization status on record.
Corrective Action(s): Please address.

STAFFING: 12260 - CCLR s.29(c) - To qualify for employment in a community care facility as a responsible adult, a person must (c) have completed a course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition.
Observation: A staff who at times works alone with children has not completed 20 hours of courses to qualify as a responsible adult.
Corrective Action(s): Please address.

CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: Attendance was reviewed and found to have 5 children under the age of 4 years old in attendance on a recent day.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the ages of children in care are in compliance with that permitted in Schedule E.

Comments

At the inspection dated October 15, 2019 there were 5 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Action required by the Licensee: Address contraventions and provide corrective action plan.
Action required by LO: Review corrective action plan.
