Introduction

An unscheduled Routine Inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: One plant pot located in the outdoor playground was broken with sharp edges easily accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Water temperature was tested above 49 degrees Celsius. Licensee turned off the hot water valve at the time of inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49 degrees Celsius.

Summary of Inspection:
The COVID-19 Pre-screening was conducted at the door.
During today’s inspection, there were 7 children, Manager, 1 staff and 1 support staff.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
The following was discussed:
Storage of cleaning supplies
Criminal record checks
Labelling bleach bottle and ensuring the bottle is filled in the event there is need for use prior to mid day.
Facility name on registration forms should match current licensed facility name
