Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a portion of the floor carpet in the 3-5 program had frayed edges. During inspection Manager made this portion of the carpet inaccessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Comments

At the inspection dated October 14, 2021 there were nineteen children and five staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility and the outdoor play area used by the preschool program. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following resources were provided and discussed with the manager:

The inspection report was written off-site – details were reviewed with the Manager prior to writing the report. A copy of the routine inspection report and risk assessment sent to Manager via email on October 14, 2021. Total time includes writing report in office.
