Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the
Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing observed the following:
-Water tank accessible to children in the Group Child Care (30 months- School Age) program. The Manager said there is a lock on the outside of the cupboard to have this inaccessible.
-There was an adult umbrella accessible to children in the infant and toddler outdoor play area, posing a safety hazard. This was removed during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

Comments

At the inspection dated May 3, 2022 there were 43 children, 8 staff, and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee/Manager to provide Licensing with a written response with actions taken to bring facility into compliance. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool will be completed and a copy will be provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Ensuring sufficient space is available between each crib in the Infant program.
