Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11120 - CCLR s.15(2)(c) - A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (c) is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it.
Observation: One piece of equipment for sleeping did not meet the developmental needs of the child using it. The LO reviewed this item in depth with the Licensee during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure equipment for sleeping meets the developmental needs of the children using it.

Comments

On the inspection date of May 17, 2023 there were 4 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee include a corrective action plan developed and submitted and actions required the LO include to review and monitor the corrective action plan. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This inspection report was completed on site, reviewed with the Licensee and a printed copy was provided during the inspection.
