Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection to assess contraventions noted on routine inspection #WBET-CHRN2 date August 8, 2022 was conducted.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12151 - CCLR s.19(5)(a) - Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Two volunteers have continued to be present at the facility without the results of a criminal record check being obtained. The licensee said she thought the volunteers could be at the facility even though the results had not been received, they had applied for a criminal record check.
Corrective Action(s): Volunteers must have the results of a valid criminal record check before they are present at the facility.

Comments

At the inspection dated September 21, 2022 there were three children and one staff present.

The following were discussed:
The last date a child attends the facility must be recorded.
Records must be kept for two years after a child leaves the facility.
All staff and volunteers must be fully screened before they start to work at the facility.
The licensee needs to contact the Licensing Officer if she has questions or is unsure about the legislation.

This report was reviewed with the licensee, written off site and a copy provided by email.
