Routine inspection: Personal services offered by aesthetician: chemical peels, microneedling, and laser hair removal (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG). Services provided by a Registered Massage Therapist and services regulated by the Health Professions Act were not inspected. Hand sink in treatment room provided with liquid soap and single use paper towels. Chemical peels: All lotions, chemicals, serums, etc dispensed from pump style bottles or into bowls. Brushes are disinfected with 70% alcohol. Microdermabrasion- operator states this service is not currently provided. Ensure a high-level disinfectant is obtained to disinfect microdermbrasion tips if this service resumes. Microneedling: All needles with cartridges received sterilized and packaged. Single use and discarded into sharps container. Microneedling pen is covered with a plastic covering when in use. Laser hair removal: Laser warning sign posted on door. No mirrors in treatment room. Laser machines are key operated with emergency on/off buttons. IPL laser machine hand piece that comes into contact with intact skin is disinfected with Caviwipes. Nd:YAG function on machine emits a wavelength of 1064 nm. Protective eyewear is labelled for 190-1200 nm. Ensure it is OD7+ as per manufacturer's recommendations. ***Do not provide laser services until it is verified with the supplier that the protective eye wear is adequate. Fat Cavitation Ultrasound: Please provide the following as soon as possible: 1. Is the KIM 8 Slimming System Device considered a medical device and does it require a Health Canada Medical Device Active Licence? 2. Proof that the device is safe to use. 3. Information of any safety precautions for client and operator. 4. Information on how the device works. 5. Method of cleaning and disinfecting (as part of the infection control plan). Note: As this machine as electrical supply, it must have either CSA or UL certification. Please provide an infection control plan and training certificates by December 30, 2022.
