Introduction

An announced routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance with a focus on health and hygiene practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated October-20-2020 there were 7 children in care with 2 educators.
A COVID-19 Risk Screening was conducted before the inspection.
At the inspection, no contraventions were identified.
No further action is required by Licensing or by the Licensee.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.
This report was written off site and is unsigned due to COVID-19 safety practices. The summary items were discussed with the Manager before Liecensing's departure.
A copy of the report and the corresponding Risk Assessment was emailed to the Manager.
The following items were discussed:
-Planned emergency response during COVID-19.
-Communicable disease prevention practices.
-Health/hygiene/sanitizing practices during COVID-19 which included review of cleaning and sanitizing as multiple steps.
-Requirement for care plans to be reviewed once a year. Licensing notes that the facility has systems in place to track children's care plans.
-A COVID-19 Infection Control Assessment was completed. A copy was provided to the facility.
-DIN numbered/medicated items in First Aid kits must not be used without parental consent.
-Importance marinating a communication/log book.
