Observation: A gap was observed underneath the backdoor which can allow the entrance of pests.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure there is no gap under the backdoor (e.g. by replacing the weather-strip). Correct within 2 weeks.

Observation: Water was observed leaking from the bottom of the upright freezer into a container. The assistant manager mentioned that the leakage occurs during the defrost cycle and an electrician will repair the unit to prevent the leakage.
Corrective Action(s): Repair the upright freezer to prevent water from leaking during the defrost cycle. Correct within 1 week.

315 - Refrigeration units and hot holding equipment lack accurate thermometers [s. 19(2)]
Observation: The built in thermometer for the upright freezer was not accurate.
Corrective Action(s): Obtain a new thermometer and place it inside the upright freezer to accurately monitor temperatures. Correct within 1 week.

Comments

Liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and paper towels were available at the handsinks.
The permit to operate was posted.
It was verified that both managers were certified in FOODSAFE Level 1.

Walk-in-cooler and other coolers were 4 degrees C (40 degrees F) or colder.
Walk-in-freezer and other freezers were -18 degrees C (0 degrees F) or colder.
Hot-held foods (e.g. chicken popcorn, cooked rice, gravy) was 60 degrees C (140 degrees F) or hotter.
Temperature logs were up-to-date.

200 ppm Quaternary ammonium compounds (QUATS) sanitizer was available in the buckets with the wiping cloths and the third compartment of the 3-compartment sink.
Food storage areas were clean and organized.
The ice machine was in a sanitary condition.
No pest activity was observed at the time of inspection.
A pest control program was in place.
