Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following during the routine inspection:
-Personal items i.e perfume, tweezer and personal toothbrush are accessible to children in the bathroom. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION)
-Children were observed jumping on the sleeping mats in the nap room.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the personal items are not accessible to children. Children's bedding is put away after each use if the nap room is used for gross motor play.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Fire Extinguisher has not been serviced annually
Corrective Action(s): Ensure fire extinguisher is serviced annually.

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated Novemebr 16, 2023 there were 3 children and licensee present. At this inspection above noted contraventions were identified.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following was discussed:
Applying of Exemption to have more than three children under 36 months.
To maintain attendance record accurately (to sign out child after they have been picked up earlier then expected. And not to sign in the children before their arrival)
