Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing conducted an inspection of the physical facility and observed a knife on top of the microwave and it was at an accessible height.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to hazardous objects while in care.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed 5 children's files and observed that record of start dates were missing from 3 files.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a record of the date that children enrol in the community care facility.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated February 5, 2019 there were 13 children, 2 staff and a support worker present.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The contraventions were corrected during the inspection. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
