Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing Officer observed the following:
- three unsecured cords in the naproom which could pose a potential risk of entanglement; Licensee removed the cords during the inspection
- fencing below the deck dividing the storage area from the children's outdoor space is not secure; storage area contains hazardous items such as stacked concrete blocks
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Comments

During this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.
The information contained in the report was discussed with the Licensee and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing emailed a copy of the report and the risk assessment to the facility.
