Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Upon inspection, the food in the emergency evacuation supplies is expired.
Corrective Action(s): The manager explained she is in contact with the director and will have it replaced.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Upon inspection, the fire drills were not documented from September 2023-December 2023 and there is no record of the earthquake drill in 2023.
Corrective Action(s): The manager advised she is unsure if the drills were done as there was a previous manager and that she is going to do an earthquake drill this month.

At the inspection dated April 17, 2024, there was 1 child and the manager present. At this inspection the above contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
