Introduction

Introduction
An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: the carpet in both rooms 6 and 7 is in poor repair, there are areas where the carpet is no longer intact it is got rolls and is not reasonable clean
Corrective Action(s): please ensure the carpet is repaired or replaced to ensure that the areas are clean and safe for the children, a regular cleaning schedule is required to ensure it is reasonably clean.please provide a plan as to when the carpet will be replace/repaired.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13080 - CCALA s.19 - If a person prepays part of the cost of services provided by a class of community care facilities designated by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, the licensee must, at the time of the prepayment, deliver to the person a written statement setting out the terms and conditions on which a refund of all or any of the prepayment will be made.
Observation: prepayment clause for contract not available

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: care plan for child who has allergies not available
Corrective Action(s): please ensure a care plan that guides and direct staff action is available at all times

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water
· Bill 5 information
· Reportable incidents

Manager discussed that the couches in room 6 will need to be replaced with in the next 6 months as they are showing signs of wear.
