Introduction

An unscheduled/scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: During the routine inspection 7 children's files were reviewed and one child's file was missing a record of immunization.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: During the routine inspection 7 children's files were reviewed and two children's files were missing a doctor's name. This is a repeat contravention from 2022.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files are complete.

Comments

At the inspection dated August 10, 2023 there were 7 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Education was provided regarding the date on the Fire Drill
· Temporary Placements and Exemptions
· Lead in the Water – flushing the pipes to remove any impurities before using the drinking water
· Medicated wipes in the First Aid bag to be used only with parental permission

Valid CRC, confirmed expiry date with licensee.
Licensing recommends using a bound book to protect the integrity of the information recorded in the minor incident log book.
