Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: During inspection, Licensing observed that there were electrical cable wires accessible to children in the nap area
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that electrical cable wires are not accessible to children

Comments

At the inspection dated Mar. 09, 2021 there were 5 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee include providing a written response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

A COVID-19 Risk Screening was also completed.

Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
- Additional sanitizing/cleaning of the facility including toys and equipment
- Increased indoor ventilation
- Continue to follow COVID-19 policy and procedures
- Playing outdoors for longer periods of time
- Print a paper copy of the facility policies
