Introduction

An announced routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance with a focus on health and hygiene practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13030 - CCLR s.22(3) - A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.
Observation: Licensing observed that the fire drill system was not displayed at the community care facility.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a copy of the fire drill system is displayed in a prominent place in the community care facility.
Date to be Corrected: July-28-20.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Upon an inspection of 5 children's files, it was noted that 3 files were missing a record of immunization status.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that each child has a record of immunization status on file.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated July-21-20, there were 5 children in care with the Licensee.
A COVID-19 Risk Screening was conducted before the inspection.
At the inspection, the above mentioned contravention were identified.
Please provide Licensing with a written response, by the date indicated below, outlining how the contraventions have been addressed.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.
This report was written off site due to COVID-19 safety practices.
A copy of the report and the corresponding Risk Assessment was emailed to the Licensee. The contravention noted in the report were reviewed with the Licensee before Licensing's departure.
The following items were discussed:
-Planned emergency response during COVID-19.
-Communicable disease prevention practices.
-Health/hygiene/sanitizing practices during COVID-19. Review of cleaning and sanitizing as multiple steps.
-Children's nap equipment being sufficient in quantity and maintained in a way that is conducive to communicable disease prevention practices.
-Keeping updated digital images of children in care on file in order for the purpose of identification during an emergency.
