Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: DLSOP Safe Play Space –debris was observed on the playground surface,including; broken tile and discarded paint tray.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the parameter of the play area is reviewed and all debris are removed prior use.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Review of 5 files. 1 file contained no alternative person for pick-up in the event of an emergency.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep record of emergency contact for each child.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 4 children, the manager, and the Licensee.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Written response is required once contraventions are addressed.

The following was discussed:
Discussed the importance of ensuring children's files are complete.
Discussed the use of licensed space, and keeping the rooms and outdoor play areas in use ready for children's use at all times.
One baseboard cover was broken, however the baseboard was not in use at the time of arrival. Licensee provided a plan to replace the cover.
Discussed the current BCCDC recommendations for mask use in facilities.
