Inspection in response to report of a fire from Langley Fire Department.
The fire happened in deep fat fryer around 9:00, which was extinguished by the fire crew within 20 minutes.
Evidence of smoke and soot was noticed on the surfaces near the deep fryers.
No power outage, all coolers and freezers were working properly.
The store manager was provided with "Small Fires in Food Premises" brochure and this brochure was discussed in detail.
The restaurant must remain closed to the public until the following corrective actions are completed.
The following actions must be taken immediately.
1.The deep fat fryers must be professionally cleaned and sanitized by a licensed fire restoration company. Please submit a work order report to our office once completed.
The ventilation/grease extraction system must be certified to be operational by a certified fire safety technician.
2. Throw out/discard any open foods and beverages within the vicinity especially stored across from the deep fryers.
3. Discard all paper or plastic packaging, take-out containers or cups that are potentially affected by smoke.
4. Clean and sanitizer all tables, counter space, equipment, and utensils on the prep line as per McDonald's cleaning procedures. Please refer to corporate policy on dealing with fires.
5. Clean and sanitize the walls and exterior of all fridges and equipment.
5. Clean and sanitize all trays, pans, food serving utensils. IF an item or article can fit in the dishwasher, it must be run through the dishwasher.
