Comments

The facility Manager was on site at the time of the inspection.

The following information was discussed with the facility Manager during today's inspection:
Supervision: The Director of Licensing Standards of Practice Active Play and Safe Play Spaces speak specifically about active supervision. Staff are required to practice active supervision, which includes a combination of close proximity and attention, watching, and listening. Staff must be able to move through and see the entire play space.
Lead in drinking water: the pipes in older buildings may contain lead. All child care facilities are being encouraged to 'flush the taps' used for drinking or preparing food every morning. The writer provided the staff with a hand out entitled 'Lead in Drinking Water'.
Reportable Incidents: if a child in care is involved in a reportable incident staff must report to licensing within 24 hours. The staff are encouraged to call their Licensing Officer directly. If they are unable to speak directly with their Licensing Officer please call the Regional Duty Licensing Officer at (604) 587-3936 which is staffed during regular business hours.

This is the facility's first routine inspection. The writer found the Licensee to be in full compliance of all legislative requirements. The writer would like to acknowledge the hard work of both the Licensee and staff in achieving this status.

This report was reviewed with the facility Manager prior to signing. If there are any questions regarding this report or any other licensing matter please contact the writer directly. The writer would like to thank the staff for their time and assistance with today's inspection.
