Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection to Routine Inspection # SMIA-CJPMDY dated September 28, 2022 was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). The previous outstanding contraventions were assessed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon arrival Licensing observed there was an unraveled garden hose beside the path that led to the outdoor play area. One end of this hose was trailing down from the upper deck. Licensing was concerned that it posed as a climbing, tripping and a strangulation hazard. This is repeat non compliance and was noted on routine inspection # SMIA-CJPMDY dated 28 Sept, 2022 and routine inspection #SMIA-C95RMQ dated 26 Nov 2021.Manager removed the hose during inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that garden hose is inaccessible to children

Comments

At the inspection dated November 7, 2022 there were seven children, one staff and the Manager present. Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response. Licensing will review the response.
The inspection report was written on -site and details were reviewed with the Manager prior to writing the report.
