Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: During walkthrough of both classrooms, it was noted that pre-prepared recording system for fire drill practises are posted, however there are no records stating that fire drills were practised in September although the preschool was in session.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure fire drills are practised and recorded monthly, to commence at the start of the preschool year.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: An audit of the sign in binders for both preschool classes took place today, and it was noted that in both classes on different days blank spaces were present, therefore making it difficult to determine whether or not the children were present or absent.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all attendance record demonstrate sign in and out times, as well as absences.

Comments

At the inspection dated October 8, 2019 there were 19 children and 2 staff and 2 parent volunteer's present.
Two coded violations were noted during today's inspection; please ensure all coded violations are addressed in a timely manner, however a written response is not requested at this time.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
