209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A sticky fly trap was observed stored near the 3-compartment sink in the front bar area.
Corrective Action(s): Staff was informed that sticky fly traps should not be stored above ware-washing, food handling, or food/food equipment storage areas to prevent potential contamination to food. Staff voluntarily discarded the fly trap and informed that she would place a new trap in an alternate location in the future.

306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation: Screen at the backdoor requires cleaning to remove accumulating dust debris and to maintain it in a clean condition.
Corrective Action(s): Either clean or replace the screen at the backdoor; Correct by July 2, 2022. If the screen is replaced, it should be adequately sized to ensure the food premises is protected from the entrance of pests.

308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
Observation: 1. Door seal of the cooler across from the cook line had been re-secured, however it is broken in one part.

2. During the previous routine inspection, the dishwasher final rinse gauge did not appear to be accurate. Note: Dishwasher was achieving the sanitizing standard at the plate level during the routine inspection. Staff mentioned that a technician will assess the dishwasher gauges today.
Corrective Action(s): 1. Replace the door seal of the cooler across from the cook line with an adequately sized intact door seal that would enable the cooler door to form a tight seal when shut. Correct within 1 week.

2. Ensure the rinse gauge at the dishwasher is in good working order (i.e. is accurate) to adequately monitor if the dishwasher is achieving the sanitizing standard at the manifold level (i.e. minimal 180 degrees F for at least 10 seconds during the final rinse cycle); Correct today. Alternatively, you may obtain a waterproof thermometer with a min/max button and a cover to monitor that the dishwasher is achieving the sanitizing standard at the plate level (i.e. minimal 71 degrees C at the plate level).

Observation: In the Operator's absence, no staff on duty had valid FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent course training.
Corrective Action(s): It was mentioned that two staff members are on a waitlist to be enrolled into a face-to-face FOODSAFE Level 1 course instructed in Chinese. Ensure enough staff successfully complete a FOODSAFE Level 1/equivalent course so that at least one staff on duty in the absence of the Operator holds valid (unexpired) FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent course training; Correct within 1 month and provide an update to the district Environmental Health Officer.

Follow up inspection:

-Repairs had been made according to staff to prevent the leak in the walk-in-cooler.
-Water was not dripping or leaking inside the walk-in-cooler at the time of inspection.
-Thermometer was available inside the cooler across from the cook line.

-Panels for both ventilation hoods had been cleaned and appeared to be in a clean condition at the time of inspection.
-Repairs had been made to realign the weather-strip to prevent a gap at the backdoor near the washrooms.
-Pest control program is in place on at least a monthly basis according to staff. Copy of recent pest control report from this month was available on-site.
-Chlorine spray bottle and sanitizer pails in use were labelled as "sanitizer" in the kitchen, front service area, and bar.
-100 ppm chlorine sanitizer was available in the chlorine sanitizer pails and spray bottle.
-Dry food was covered in the storage room.
