HAZARD RATING FOR YOUR FACILITY: Low (≤15) Total Score = 15
Critical Hazards: Total Number: 1
302 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Turquoise solution a 400 ppm quaternary ammonium based disinfectants was used as the food surface sanitizer. This solution was observed in spray bottle and light blue in color. The manufacture's instruction stated this solution must be rinsed with potable water if used to sanitize food contact surface. This is not an approved food sanitizer. Upon discussing the nursing manager, she stated "Clear", another quaternary ammonium solution at the dispenser, was the food sanitizer. The manufacture's instruction on "Clear" solution bottle stated it is an acceptable food sanitizer. 200 ppm quaternary ammonium was measured from the "Clear" dispenser. Staffs were not clear on which solution was the food sanitizer.
Corrective Action(s): 200 ppm quaternary ammonium was measured from the dispenser with the switch turned to "Clear". Ensure 200 ppm quaternary ammonium for food contact surfaces is used such as "Clear" solution. Never use Turquoise solution for sanitizing food contact surfaces. Clean and sanitize all food contact surfaces again with approved sanitizer. Educate staffs on obtaining proper food sanitizer from the dispenser. Repeating this violation in the future may result in correction ORDER / Violation Tickets.
