PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation: Licensing observed that one of the emergency exit doors was blocked with a large blue recycling bin. In discussion with the Manager she mentioned there was another exit outside the other preschool next door. We discussed the concern with having the exit partially blocked. The Manager will contact the school board to make arrangements to move the large blue recycling bin so it does not block one of the exit doors.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure equipment is moved to a location that does not block an exit that is used in the case of fire or emergency.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: Licensing observed a hot pot of coffee in a coffee maker on a table. The coffee pot was within easy reach of the children. This could pose a serious scald or burn hazard to the children in care. I discussed this with the Manager . An information pamphlet called Hot Water Burns Like Fire, was shared with the Manager.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are hazardous to their health and safety.

STAFFING: 12151 - CCLR s.19(5)(a) - Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: A parent was volunteering in the preschool during the time of the inspection. In reviewing the criminal record checks on file the parent did not have a criminal record check. In consultation with the Manager she stated she has most of the CRC's for the parents that volunteer but she is waiting for the rest of the CRC's to be processed..
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that each person that volunteers in the program has a current criminal record check.

Observation: During the inspection a parent was volunteering at the facility. There was no information on file documenting compliance with the immunization program.

Observation: Licensing reviewed the repayment policy. A statement outlining the return of prepayment for services is missing. An example of this may be when a child withdraws from the program.

Observation: Licensing reviewed 10 out of 21 children's files. Five children's files were missing the date of enrollment.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all of the children's files are complete. This is a repeat contravention.

Observation: During the inspection the daily attendance record was missing the departure times of some of the children on multiple days.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the daily attendance record is complete. Please ensure the staff record the time children leave each day if the parents fail to do so.

Observation: Two care plans were reviewed during the facility inspection. A record of compliance with the care plan was not documented.
