Report of Findings
Community Care Facilities Licensing (CCFL) received a complaint on October 25, 2022. The complainant provided the following concerns to PCQO:

Staff failed to support a person in care (PIC) to obtain health services for visual impairment and speech therapy. Staff also failed to encourage the person in care in social activities.

All areas of the complaint were fully investigated. Evidence was collected from interviews and records.

Licensing determined a contravention:
Residential Care Regulation Section 81(4)(b)(i) - A licensee must ensure that each care plan is reviewed and, if necessary, modified if there is a substantial change in the circumstances of the person in care.

Observation: The PIC’s care plan did not include information regarding his visual impairment and it was not updated after the specialist had made recommendations on October 6, 2022.
