Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulationand the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice. All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Not Applicable
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The Licensing Officer observed play mats and sleep mats where the internal foam is exposed due to the mats being worn/torn.
Corrective Action(s): Exposed foam cannot be cleaned and there is the potential for children to tear away pieces of foam and ingest it. The Licensee will replace the worn/torn mats.

Comments

At the inspection dated March 26, 2019 there were 19 children and 5 staff present. At this inspection the above noted violations were identified an any action by the Licensee is included here. As part of this routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

continuous active supervision
notification of reportable incidents
lead in drinking water
mandatory inspections to assess applications for temporary placement, retention and exemptions
promotion of active play.
