Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15010 - CCLR s.14(4)(a) - A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that in one of the children's bathrooms, soiled diapers were placed in a container without a cover.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that soiled diapers are placed in a covered container.
Date to be Corrected: This was corrected during the inspection.


Comments

At the inspection dated Dec. 11, 2023 there were 47 children and 12 staff present. The manager assisted and was also on-site for both inspection days. The above noted contravention was identified. The contravention noted in this report was reviewed with the facility manager during the inspection.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following recommendations/discussions were provided:
- Procedures for absent children
- Procedures for staff immunization records
- Outdoor and indoor supervision
