Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officers observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

As part of the Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operational environment

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): the door to the bathroom is in poor repair, the wood on the door is splintered and apotential hazard to the children in care.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure the door is repaired or repalced to ensure the health and safety of the children in care

PROGRAM: 18130 - DLSOP Active Play - The following licensed child care programs must ensure a minimum of 60 minutes per day of outdoor active play (indoor active play is acceptable when weather is poor or outdoor physical space is limited). Active play may be accumulated through 15 minute portions of time throughout the day or continuously. - Family Child Care, Group Child Care (Under 36 Months), Multi-Age Child Care, Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age), In-Home Multi-Age Child Care, Group Child Care (School Age)
Observation: the outside paly area is not useable at this time due to the collapse of the awning tents , therefore the children have not been able to play outside since december 20,2016
Corrective Action(s): the facility has established a work party to address the area of concern and developed an indoor program of activities for gross motor development
