Introduction

An unscheduled Routine Inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): -plug cable for music player in nap room was unsecured, and proposed a chocking hazard.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
· During today’s inspection, there were 3 children, 1 staff and the manager was present.
· At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
· Discussed evacuation kit amount of food was suitable for the number of children currently in care, however was not enough for 8 children. Licensing noted some items were near expiry.
· Hand washing with single use towels for staff and children, and having towels available near each sink that is used by children in care.
· Discussed sunscreen application, storage and use for children.
