Observation: 1) 12 Packs of Verka Paneer (Best Before Date 2016Aug03) were found to be swollen
2) 8 Canned food items were found to be severely dented of were found to have dents along the seams.
3) 3 - 2L cartons of Dairyland Skim Milk were found to have a best before date of July 25, 2016
4) Bulk food area scoops were found stored in the bins.
Corrective Action(s): 1) Verka Paneer which were swollen may have microbial growth in the package may have microbial growth in the packages. Paneer was removed from the store area.
2) Safety of canned food items with severe dents or dents along the seals cannot be guaranteed. Ensure staff check canned items are removed damaged cans from the shelving area or check cans before they are placed on the store shelf.
3) Ensure staff are properly rotating stock and removing items past their best before dates.
4) Have staff monitor the bulk food area and ensure scoops are placed into the designated storage area. Scoop handles may contaminate the foods or customer's hands reaching for the scoops may potentially contaminate foods.

Comments

-Dairy walk-in cooler was at 4C.
-Produce walk-in cooler was at 3C.
-Walk-in freezer was at -22C.
-Customer area coolers were at 4C or less.
-Customer area freezer units ranged from -15C to less than -18C.
-Quats sanitizer dispenser in the produce area tested at 200ppm.
-Handwash station in the produce area supplied with hot and cold running water, liquid hand soap, and single use paper towels.
-Random selection of canned food items were found to be within their best before dates.
-Random selection of infant and baby foods were found to be in good condition and within the expiry dates.
-Random selection of nutritional supplements were found to be in good condition and within the expire dates.
-Facility monitored by a professional pest control operator - no signs of pests noted at the time of inspection.
-General sanitation good at the time of inspection.
