Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: Upon inspection of the outdoor play space, there was a full cedar panel that was leaning up against the fence, not secured, that could fall on the child. A picture was taken.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the children do not have access to any object that may be hazardous to their health or safety

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated May 30, 2019 there were 5 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response.Licensing will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Active Supervision & Planning for the heat
· Lead in the Water
A discussion was had with the licensee about the enclosure of the trampoline; the drop off in the yard; and of the door under the wooden play house.Pictures were taken of these items and copies are available upon request.
A discussion was had with the licensee about staffing.
