Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services

· Records and Reporting
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Previous Inspection - Not Applicable
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: The emergency supplies do not have water to drink during an emergency.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure there is enough drinking water to recover from any emergency.
Date to be Corrected: November 26, 2018.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: One out of five children's files reviewed is missing the start date. Licensee corrected during site visit.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's records contain the date of enrolment.

Comments

The following were reviewed and/or discussed:
· Active supervision practices and the licensee’s supervision practices
· Licensing informed the Licensee that when reporting any Reportable Incidents to get in direct contact with a Licensing officer. If the Licensee's Licensing officer is unavailable then to call the Duty Line at (604) 587-3936. See Schedule H in the Child Care Licensing Regulations for a list of reportable incidents.
· Flushing water pipes daily for 1-5 minutes is recommended to ensure lead particles from older plumbing are removed from drinking water.
· Bill 5 amendments
