Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Licensing reviewed three staff files and observed that a criminal record check clearance letter was missing for one staff. Staff advised that the manager submitted the application for her CRC and that she will not be working alone with children pending delivery of her clearance letter.
This is a repeat contravention as it was noted on the last routine inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please obtain criminal record clearance letters prior to employment.

Comments

At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. The manager advised on Monday July 27th, about compliance for coded item number 12060 as well as a compliance plan for coded item number 12040.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

ยท COVID-19 prevention strategies

The information contained in the report was discussed with a staff member and the report and risk assessment were written off-site (Monday July 27th). Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility. Licensing provided a resource package containing information around COVID-19 prevention.
