Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All care categories were assessed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: LO observed and discussed with the Manager about below items not secured:
- Over 4ft dresser in the nap room is not secured/ anchored against the wall
- TV in the main play area placed on top of a 2ft shelving unit
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: No record of Emergency drill for 2023. Last emergency drill was practiced and recorded on Nov 2022. The manager stated that it was practiced (summer) but not recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that current records respecting fire/emergency drills are kept.

Comments

On the inspection date of December 12, 2023 there were 5 children and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee include to bring the facility into compliance. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. The content of this inspection was reviewed with the Manager onsite and the copy was provided.

- First Aid Kit and Emergency supplies
- Behaviour Guidance
