Observation:
1) Many foods being made for personal use are stored with commercial products.
2) Personal foods (ex. fruits) have gone mouldy.
Corrective Action(s):
1) Separate personal products from commercial products to prevent cross-contamination such as allergens.
2) Discard mouldy foods.

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: Rat droppings noted in cluttered area in the back. Sticky traps laid throughout facility. Door sweep was replaced on one of the walk-in coolers, in process of installing door sweep on second walk-in cooler (for the time being, a piece of solid wood is placed at the bottom of the door when facility is not operating to prevent pest entry).
Corrective Action(s):
1) Clean all rat droppings are soon as they are found using a 1:10 bleach solution (1 cup bleach in 10 cups water).
2) Reduce clutter
3) Ensure that all foods are kept in pest proof containers
4) Seal any holes that pests may enter from.
5) If rodent problem persists, you may have to hire a professional pest technician.

Better separation of personal and commercial foods is required. Designate part of one walk-in cooler for personal foods only and ensure that they are not mixed up in the commercial foods.
