Observation: A few mouse droppings noted in the laundry room (behind washing machine). Licensed pest control is contracted for the building as per operator.
Corrective Action(s): Your pest control program is to include monitoring for pests, cleaning, sealing any gaps (such as gaps around pipes and under doors) to prevent pests from entering, and following advice of licensed pest control expert.

Observation: There is no health warning sign in the stand up (vertical) indoor tanning room.
Corrective Action(s): Post the indoor tanning health warning sign in this room. Signage provided to operator during inspection.

Semi critical items not adequately cleaned and disinfected
Observation: Alcohol used for disinfecting client eyewear. This is not a high level disinfectant.
Correction: High level disinfection is required for disinfecting eyewear between uses by different clients.

Adequate protective eyewear not available for operator and/or clients
Observation: Operator is using "peepers" eyewear for clients and states that it was confirmed by IPL laser manufacturer that this eyewear provides adequate protection for this laser.
Correction: Provide information from manufacturer regarding the suitability of eyewear being used for laser clients. Verify door signage requirements for IPL laser. Keep manual on site.

Biomedical waste and/or sharps not disposed of in an adequate manner
Observation: There is no sharps container for safe disposal of single use razors (sharps).
Correction: Provide a sharps container.
Comments

Updated Services: Tanning and body sculpting ONLY. Laser services are no longer being provided at this location.
- Items 611, 613, and 617 no longer applicable.
Tanning:
- Tanning checklist reviewed with operator (copy provided during inspection).
- Age restriction sign posted at point of sale (front counter).
- Client information obtained by staff (operator to ensure staff have training on this as well as on health and safety requirements for tanning).
- Time is set at front desk (client cannot add time).
- Eyewear is "single client" (client purchases protective eyewear and brings back with them). There is no re-use of eyewear on multiple clients.
- Do not allow clients to use indoor tanning without adequate protective eyewear.
- Currently no indoor tanning protective eyewear available for clients to purchase but is on order as per operator. Clients are to use only eyewear designed for indoor tanning.
- Eyewear allows for client to see emergency off button - safety instructions to be communicated with each client.
- Bulbs on tanning bed are all replaced at the same time. This occurs during regularly scheduled maintenance by bulb supplier/maintenance company (as per operator). Follow instructions from tanning equipment supplier.
- Tanning Health warning signs are posted in both tanning bed rooms.
- ***There is no Tanning Health Warning sign in the stand up (vertical) tanning booth room - see above.
- Low level disinfectant used as per label for tanning bed surfaces. New disinfectant with shorter contact time on order.
- Second stand up tanning booth not in use.
- Spray tanning - not inspected today.
Other - Body Sculpting:
- Using device/equipment with a medical device licence (equipment and room not checked today). This is not a laser (uses radiofrequencies as per operator).
- Use equipment as per your training from manufacturer. You are not permitted to provide any services that are restricted under the Health Professions Act.
- Room used has a hand washing sink.
- Low level disinfectant used. Follow directions from manufacturer.
General:
- Cleaning - Follow a written, routine cleaning schedule.
- Laundry on site - use hot dry.
- Customer and staff washroom - has hot/cold water, liquid soap, and paper towels. No dispenser for toilet paper. Operator advises this room is scheduled for painting/renovation - ok.
- Pest control - Operator advises that the building has a licenced pest control contract - See above re pest control.
- Room rental - any proposed room rental - contact Fraser Health for approval.
