Introduction

At the inspection dated May 3, 2023 there were 11 children 2 staff, and The Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee/Manager to provide Licensing with a written response with actions taken to bring facility into compliance. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool will be completed and a copy will be provided.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing observed the tables for high chairs are peeling.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure furniture, equipment and fixtures are in good repair..

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing observed Lysol stored on a shelf accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous.

STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Upon inspection, there was no criminal record check for 1 staff in the program. The Manager explained that all documents have been submitted for CRC renewal.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff records are complete.

CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing observed one staff leave the premise for a few minutes. The Manager explained that this is not a common occurrence.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the ratio of employees to children attending is no less than permitted in Schedule E.
