Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: the following pieces of equipment are in poor repair and require replacement or repair, the area carpet IT room , the counter in the bathroom small room , the highchair cushions the large room, the light cover in the large room
Corrective Action(s): please ensure these pieces of equipment are addressed or a plan is developed to address replacement or repair

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation: the high chair straps and several areas on the wall are not reasonable clean
Corrective Action(s): please ensure these areas are ceaned

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): the emergency exit off the outdoor enclosed play area is partially blocked by the storage of equipment and a ladder is stored behind the door, downstairs the exit is partially blocked by buckets, please ensure these areas are clear and free of stored items
Corrective Action(s): please ensure emegeny areas are cleared of storage, corrected during inspection.

CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: staff child ration was not appropriate for the service type and schedule ECE opened the IT room
Corrective Action(s): please ensure the staff chid ratio is as per schedule E, staff stated they will request an exemption for staffing

NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES: 17020 - CCLR s.48(1)(b) - A licensee must (b) promote healthy eating and nutritional habits.
Observation: the fridge temp in the large IT room was measured at 8 degrees Celsius
Corrective Action(s): please ensure the fridge temp is between 0-4 degrees Celsius

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: attendance in IT room did not accurately reflect children presence in room
Corrective Action(s): pleas ensure attendance accurately reflects children time in and out
