Observation:
Cardboard is covering the floor of the storage room. Cardboard is not an acceptable material as it is NOT cleanable, durable or sealed. Cardboard will attract and harbor cockroaches.
Corrective Action(s):
Immediately remove and stop using cardboard to cover or line surfaces.

Observation:
The room storing the disposable food items (cups, napkins, etc.) is cluttered and has broken or unused items. These conditions will attract and promote pest infestation.

De-clutter the storage room, and discard any broken, old or unused items immediately.

502 - In operator’s absence, no staff on duty has FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent [s. 10(2)]
Observation:
At time of the inspection, staff member had an expired FoodSafe Level 1 certificate. There must be one staff member working at all times, that possesses a valid FoodSafe certificate so proper food handling practices are followed.
Corrective Action(s):
Review all staff FoodSafe certificates to ensure they are valid. If certificates do NOT have an expiration date on them, then they have expired. Go to www.foodsafe.ca to register for the refresher course on-line and obtain a valid certificate.

Comments

A routine inspection was conducted, the following observations were made:
- Coolers were 4C or colder; freezer was -20C; and thermometers present.
- Hand sink stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- Bleach present to sanitize dishware and utensils, but no solution made during inspection. Ensure a fresh solution is made each day to ensure the strength is maintained (1 tsp of bleach to 500mL of warm water).
- General sanitation level is good. No signs of pests.
- All foods stored in food grade containers; covered; and 6" off the floor.
- No expired foods for sale or in use.
