Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of practice (DOLSOP). All areas were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a vinyl glove at the side of the tub in the bathroom.
Corrective Action(s): This was corrected during the inspection.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Licensing found no documented record of children who were absent over the past few months.
Corrective Action(s): Licensee will consider and create a system to ensure the information is documented.

Summary of Inspection:During today’s inspection the manager and 1 child was present.
At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.
Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions. Licensing will review the written response.
As part of the routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool was completed, and a copy was provided to the facility along with the report. Copies of the inspection report and the Facility Risk Assessment Tool were reviewed, discussed, and provided to the Licensee/Manager.
