Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

At the inspection dated May 16, 2023 there were thirty five children, five staff and the Manager present. Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility. There were no contraventions identified during this inspection.
The following was discussed with the Manager:
Even distribution of wood chips in the outdoor play area as ground surfacing is wearing thin in some areas. Manager stated there is a plan to replenish the wood chips.
Storage of materials in a manner to ensure that they do not fall on children in the event of an earthquake.

Manager requested the routine inspection report and risk assessment to be emailed to her. The inspection report was written off-site – details were reviewed with the Manager and staff prior to writing the report. A copy of the routine inspection report and risk assessment sent to manager via email on May 16, 2023.
