Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection to routine inspection #ANAI-BS24UF was conducted. Areas of non-compliance identified at the routine inspection were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Licensing observed:
- The pony wall in the toddler room is in a state of disrepair.
-Cupboard doors in the toddler program show signs of water damage.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the community care facility and the fixtures within it are clean and in good repair.

Comments

Summary of inspection:

At the inspection dated November-6-2020, the children were supervised by 7 educators. The manager arrived at the facility shortly after Licensing's arrival.
A COVID-19 Risk Screening was conducted at the inspection.

At the inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.
Please provide Licensing with a written response, by the date noted below, stating how the identified contraventions will be addressed in order to ensure year round compliance.
This report was written off site and is unsigned due to COVID-19 safety practices. The contraventions identified in the report were reviewed with the Manager before Licensing's departure.
A copy of the report and the corresponding Risk Assessment was emailed to the Manager.
The following items were discussed:
-Planned emergency response during COVID-19.
-Communicable disease prevention practices.
-Health/hygiene/sanitizing practices during COVID-19 which included review of cleaning and sanitizing as multiple steps.
-A COVID-19 Infection Control Assessment was conducted.
-A conversation was had with the manager about being pro active about communication with Licensing and honoring timelines agreed upon mutually.
-At the time of inspection, the under 36 months program was using the 30 months to school age program's outdoor play space. A discussion was had to ensure that under 36 month group has access to the outdoor play space that is meant for them.
