Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP).
Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:

Physical Facility
Staffing
Policies and Procedures
Care and supervision/Hygiene and medication
Nutrition
Program
Child Records and reporting

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided to the facility.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
On the inspection date of January 16,20120, there were 16 children and with the Manager and one staff present for the morning class and 12 children for the afternoon class. There were no contraventions identified and thus no action is required by the Licensee or by Licensing.
The outdoor new playground was not inspected on this date due to being covered by snow and will be inspected at a later date.
The following education /recommendations were provided:
Ensuring care plans provide clear information regarding response to be provided.
Reportable Incident Reporting – ensure notification to a Licensing Officer (LO) within 24 hours, if you cannot reach your LO please contact the Duty Line at 604-587-3936
